We collect and use your information to provide our services and improve them over time.

Information you provide – When you sign up for a service or promotion that requires registration, we ask you for personal information (such as your name, email address and an account password). We may combine the information you submit under your account with information from other services or third parties in order to provide you with a better experience and to improve the quality of our services. For certain services, we may give you the opportunity to opt out of combining such information.

Content: Some of our services are designed to help you share information with the world. The information you provide to us, when you use such services, is information you are asking us to make public. This includes collecting, publishing and sharing snippets of content, writing blog posts or updating site content. This includes the metadata such as when you posted, whom you interact with, who you repost and many other bits of information. Our default is almost always to make the information you provide on such a service public. We do provide you with settings to make the information more private should you wish. Your public information is broadly and instantly disseminated and searchable through many search engines. It’s also disseminated through our API’s to a wide range of users and services. cookies – Like many websites, Wixel sites and services use “cookie” technology to collect additional usage data on your computer, mobile phone or other device. A cookie is a small data file containing a string of characters, that is transferred to your device. Wixel may use both session and persistent cookies to better understand how you interact with our services, to monitor usage by our users and web traffic routing on our services, and improve the quality of our service. Most browsers are set up to automatically accept cookies, but you can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some features and services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.

Log information – When you use services, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. These server logs may include information such as your device type, request, IP address, browser type, browser language, the referring domain, pages visited, search terms, the date and time of your request. Other actions, such as interactions with advertisements, may also be included in Log Data. Log information is used to improve our service offering to you.

User communications – We may contact you with service-related announcements from time to time. You may opt out of all communications except essential updates on your user account. When you send email or other communication to, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.

Links – may present links in a format that enables us to keep track of whether these links have been followed and interacted with. We use this information to improve the quality of our search technology, customized content and advertising and to be able to share aggregate click statistics such as how many times a particular item was clicked on or downloaded.

Location Information: You may choose to note your location in some of our Services. If you turn on Location, we may save exact coordinates to help improve our service. You can control your location information settings in your user account settings.

Affiliated Sites: We offer some of our services in cooperation with other web sites. Personal information that you provide to those sites may be sent to in order to deliver the service. Third Party Services: Wixel uses a variety of services by third parties to help provide our services. Examples include hosting our various sites and applications, and to help us understand the use of our Services, such as Google Analytics. To provide you with services: We engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to us. Such information does not identify you individually.

To respond to legal requests and prevent harm: We may disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, regulation or legal request or enforceable government request; to protect the safety of any person, to address fraud, security or technical issues or to protect Wixel’s rights and property. This may include respecting requests from jurisdictions outside of South Africa where we have good faith belief that the response is required by law under the local laws in that jurisdiction, apply to users from that jurisdiction, and are consistent with generally accepted international standards.

Business Transfers: In the event that Wixel is involved in bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. The promises in this privacy policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity.


If you are a registered user of our Services, we provide you with tools to access and update the personal information you provided to us which is associated with your account. We make good faith efforts to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes. We ask individual users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed, corrected or removed before processing such requests, and we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup tapes), or for which access is not otherwise required. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort.
